Setting and Reporting This position is created for a project assignment in the Executive Office, Division of Conference Management (DCM), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, Geneva. The Programme Officer reports to the Executive Officer. The focus of this job is the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project milestones, its operations and other activities in an assigned functional area.Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties: • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.• Performs consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.• Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from various internal and external sources ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness; identifies solutions for eliminating discrepancies and missing information.• Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions. • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.• Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.• Participates in the design of new implementations/tools, engages with various stakeholders to determine in-depth business requirements.• Develops training materials and user manuals, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.• Performs other duties as required.Competencies PROFESSIONALISM:- Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to particular sector, functional area or other specialized field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.Job - Specific Qualification Work Experience A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required.Experience conducting mandate-related research in the area of conference management services is desirable.Experience in data analysis, reporting and visualizations in Power BI is desirable.Experience in implementing IT solutions to optimize business processes is desirable.Experience in the development and delivery of trainings is desirable.Experience working in the United Nations Common System or other international organizations is desirable.Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and French is required.
