The Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area at Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) is focused upon discovering and developing transformative therapies for patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection, respiratory virus infections, and drug-resistant bacterial infections. We are seeking a highly qualified individual, who is passionate about making the lives of patients better, to join our team as a Project Team Leader (PTL) to oversee clinical stage programs in infectious diseases. Your mission As an expert in clinical stage drug development with proven entrepreneurial ability and mind-set, you are fully empowered and are responsible and accountable for developing and implementing the strategy for our clinical stage programs . Your mission is to drive these programs from the early development stage (Clinical Candidate Selected (CCS) to clinical proof of concept studies at the end of phase II and to ensure a seamless transition into later stages of development. You will also contribute to broader strategy development in infectious diseases as a member of the Infectious Diseases Leadership Team. The PTL role The position is based in Basel, Switzerland, reporting to the Global Head of Infectious Diseases in the Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Opthalmology (I2O) Discovery and Therapeutic Area (DTA) Ensures a competitive program strategy Provides high quality leadership and guidance to global cross-functional early development teams, ensuring an optimal team composition. Ensures deliverables are met for clear and rigorous decision making Manages key project risks Creates a positive team culture, ensuring a psychologically safe environment that increases the competitiveness of the program by encouraging different points of view and innovative approaches at an early stage. Monitors the external environment for changing trends and factors that influences the current and future business models Represents the program at internal governance meetings on key decision points, enabling rigorous, fact-based, decision making Develops and implements an effective programme communications plan Serves as the primary contact with partners in co-development collaborations Communications Ensures that internal and external communications are compelling, impactful and succinct and that they are tailored for each specific audience Ensures development of a comprehensive plan for scientific presentations in scientific journals and at scientific/medical conferences Resource and Budget Management Accountable for project budget and milestones Interfaces with Roche colleagues in the areas of finance, project management, regulatory, clinical operations, etc. to ensure appropriate resource usage based on approved plans. Works in a cross-functional manner to identify gaps and to find collaborative solutions toward solving any resource challenges Your profile PhD or MD, preferred, with at least 6-8 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent level of experience with an outstanding track record of developing early stage clinical compounds in a results-oriented manner Visionary and strategy mindset Strong leadership and clinical project management skills influence skills in managing multidisciplinary teams In depth knowledge of the scientific (discovery and clinical), technical, regulatory and business requirements for successful early development stage projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to manage change Willingness to travel internationally and work effectively with different global cultures Experience with budget preparation/analysis is viewed as a plus.
