Org. Setting and Reporting The UN Environment Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) (www.unepfi.org) is a global partnership between UN Environment and the private financial services sector. UNEP FI works closely with over 300 financial institutions that are signatories to the UNEP FI Statements of Environmental Commitment, as well as a range of partner organizations, to develop and promote the linkages between the environment & social sustainability and financial performance. Through its industry commissions, thematic advisory groups and regional activities, UNEP FI carries out its mission to identify, promote, and realize the adoption of sustainability practices at all levels of financial institution operations. UNEP FI’s Climate Change programme develops, implements and coordinates work across the banking, investment and insurance industries related to climate change. The broad aim of our work is to equip financial institutions as well as other stakeholders with the knowledge and skills needed to address climate change risks and capitalize on its opportunities.The TCFD Banking Pilot program builds on work done by UNEP FI and partners in 2017-2018 that developed physical and transition risk methodologies for bank portfolios and extended in 2019-2020 through Phase II of the Banking Pilot and in 2021-2022 through Phase III of the Banking Pilot. The climate risk and TCFD programme is now looking to continue developing thought leadership on climate risk through partnerships with climate modelers, supervisors, and other stakeholders. The programme will also work at a regional level to build capacity around climate risk management and climate risk disclosures in line with the TCFD and regulatory expectations. UNEP FI aspires to build both knowledge and action within the financial sector to mobilise the sector to address climate risks and support the low-carbon transition. The TCFD program will develop tools, papers, workshops, and other outputs to empower the financial sector to move faster on critical climate issues. The UNEP FI Internship for Climate Change Program (TCFD Banking Pilot- Core Programme) is for six (6) months.The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.Responsibilities The intern will assist the Climate Change team with implementing work related to UNEP FI’s core TCFD Pilot.Daily responsibilities may vary depending on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:-Researching the latest developments regarding climate scenarios, climate impacts, and climate-related regulations within the financial sector-Evaluating bank and supervisory practices related to climate risk, both physical and transition risks -Helping with the drafting and editing of publications (reports, studies, etc.)-Supporting the day-to-day coordination of communications (organising meetings, note-taking, etc.)-Ensuring participants remain engaged by serving as liaison to different working groups within the programme-Assisting with the preparations for events (logistical planning, agenda setting, etc.) -Working on other relevant tasks to support programme successCompetencies Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.Academic background in economics, social sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, public policy, sustainable development, business administration, finance, or another related field.Job - Specific Qualification  Work Experience No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
